  2. The competition will be open from 1 December 2023 to 30 June 2024 and anyone, professional or amateur photographer, over the age of 18 may participate.
  3. In the last version of the CENIE Photo Contest, 384 professional and amateur photographers from 34 countries participated and submitted more than 1,750 photographs.

The General Foundation of the University of Salamanca, through CENIE, has called for a new Photography Competition with the slogan "New Long-Lived Societies". The aim of this fifth edition is to achieve a new artistic and creative look at the key factors derived from the continuous growth of intergenerationality and the opportunities that this challenge generates, among them: favouring a change in the perception of what longevity means, understanding what longevity means and the social, cultural and structural changes associated with it, and strengthening new forms of relationship between the different generations.

Under the slogan "New Long-Lived Societies", professional and amateur photographers over the age of 18 can submit their work in the different categories defined for this new version of the competition:

  1. People. Portraits and photographs of people that highlight the importance, from a positive point of view, of generational diversity and its interrelation.
Looks. Photographs of events, objects or activities showing the value of the new long-lived societies, in the five and six generations that coexist in the same temporal space.
Iberian looks. Photographs of events, objects or activities showing the value of the new long-lived societies and located in Spain and Portugal.
Looks at the Raya. Photographs of events, objects or activities showing the value of the new long-lived societies, in which five and six generations live together in the same temporary space and which are located in the cross-border territory of Spain and Portugal.
Artistic Images. Photographs, whose theme is the new long-lived societies, and which have been manipulated for artistic purposes, through the application of digital and/or traditional special effects (for example: colouring, toning, collage, compositions and HDR).
Drones/Aerial. Photography captured through the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) with the theme of new long-lived societies. Photographs taken from airplanes/helicopters will be accepted.

The deadline for entries and submission of photographs will be open from 1 December until 30 June 2024 at midnight.

Photographs will be judged on creativity, quality and originality. A professional Jury will select 10 finalists for each category, a winner for each category and a CENIE Grand Prize winner from among the 60 finalists. As in the previous competition, where 384 photographers, professionals and amateurs, of 34 nationalities participated, each winner of the respective categories will receive a prize of 1,250 euros, while the winner of the CENIE Grand Prize will receive the sum of 5,000 euros.

The 5th Edition of the CENIE Photography Competition is part of the New Long-Lived Societies Project, in which, in addition to the General Foundation of the University of Salamanca, the Conselho Económico e Social de Portugal and the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança are participating. This initiative is part of the INTERREG VI-A Cooperation Programme, Spain-Portugal, (POCTEP), 2021-2027, financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
